CDFG Upper Sacramento River Basin Salmonid Monitoring

The Upper Sacramento River Basin contains much of California's salmon and steelhead populations. The USRB has been monitored for over 50 years for Chinook salmon populations and other species. The data contained in the California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG) Sacramento River Salmon and Steelhead Assessment Project files consist of long term data, annual reports, databases, spreadsheets and descriptions of monitoring efforts. In addition a photo selection is available for selected fisheries related photos.

Upper Sac Aerial Redd Summary Data
This file contains the database of information collected each year on new salmon redds observed in the Upper Sacramento River from Princeton CA to Keswick Dam. Data is summarized by year and salmon run. Data represents only redds observed during plane or helicopter flights. Users SHOULD be aware that data is dependent on visibility and DOES NOT represent total counts of new redds, only those visible at time of filight. Conditions such as wind chop, glare, water turbidity, angle of sun, air traffic, and aircraft all play a role in limiting the potential use of this data for other users. Please contact dkillam@dfg.ca.gov if you are uncertain of possible use of this data to your application.
