Anadromous abundance data are those collected by a variety of agencies and organizations and reflect current and historic abundance of anadromous fish in a selected stream or river. This link will open a page with additional program information and will also enable access a data query tool which supports location and species data queries. The Environmental Resource Information Service, CDFG Northern Region, recently developed a method for deriving salmonid distribution from existing observation data. Distribution and Range datasets are now available for winter and summer steelhead and coho salmon.

Effective and continual monitoring of California's anadromous fishes (steelhead, Chinook and Coho salmon) is necessary to properly assess population trends, distribution, and abundance. The following plans are currently under development.

The statewide Passage Assessment Database (PAD) contains information on actual, potential and remediated barriers to anadromous fish distribution. This program initiated by the California Coastal Conservancy is funded by Department of Fish and Game and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and administered by the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission.

The Fish Passage Forum promotes collaboration among public and private sectors on fish passage improvement programs and projects to restore migration corridors and open inaccessible habitat to anadromous salmonid species in California.

The California Habitat Restoration Project Database (CHRPD) contains data and information about stream restoration projects funded by a variety of agencies and organizations in California. Funded by the Department of Fish and Game and NOAA Fisheries and compiled by the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission, the database is the most complete source of California stream restoration projects.
